Training Members (Zen Students)

Formal students of GMZC teachers are expected to maintain a membership with GMZC; this supports the teachers, the community, and the further growth and development of GMZC and its programming. Zen Students are participants who have made a formal commitment to the teacher through the Jukai ceremony, or who have expressed interest in making the formal commitment. Zen Students are recommended to participate in at least one 7-day sesshin and two Weekend Sesshins per year. Training Members have access to 1:1 private meetings with the teachers.

Training Member Benefits

1. Training Members receive a discounted suggested donation for some courses and retreats.
2. Members have priority retreat registration.
3. Members have a more intimate relationship with the community and a hand in the development process.
4. Members benefit from having made a commitment to their training, to the community, and to the teachers.
5. Training Members have access to 1:1 private interviews with the teachers, koan training, and ongoing spiritual direction.
